Grace: Backwards and Forwards

As we prepare to celebrate the 85th anniversary of EBCLA, how fitting it is to use this occasion to remember how gracious the Lord has been to this body of believers throughout its lifespan. However, as with our personal lives, the members of this church may not have appreciated how God was being gracious until months or years after God said "No" or "Wait" or "Repent" or even "Love One Another." But given the advantages of history and hindsight, it is clear today how the Lord God has been caring for us and preparing EBCLA to be a vital outpost of God's kingdom eighty-five years after the pioneers planted it. May this look back help us all to look forward together to how the Lord will demonstrate his unfailing grace to and through us to the rest of the world.
